Spotlight On – Ranger Industries

Ranger Industries was founded in 1929 as Ranger Ink, and the company originally manufactured an exclusive line of waterproof, permanent ink that was packaged in rubber stamp pads for the U.S. banking industry. In 1975, Ranger was purchased by Vince DiLascia, and since then it has been family-owned and operated. In the 1970s and 1980s, the company expanded into other commercial ink markets with a combination of custom-manufactured inks for specialty printing applications and the resale of inks from other companies.  In addition, Ranger produced private-label OEM inks for several companies. The company often advertised as having the solution for anyone with an “ink problem”.

In 1979 Ranger opened its door into a new market- the arts and crafts industry- and developed its first set of art stamp pads in unique, vibrant colors. From there, orders came from big-name retailers such as Hallmark, and artists’ stamping inks came into a greater focus for the company. In the 1990s and early 2000s, Ranger began marketing art product lines of its own. Products such as glitter glues, embossing powders, and permanent inks were starting to gain traction.

Justin Russo and Alain Avrillon, Vince’s sons-in-law, began working at Ranger in 2001. In 2006, they took over operations completely and are the current owners. Ranger’s footing in the arts and craft industry has continued to blossom and Ranger began to add Signature Designers to the team to design and market a wide variety of art products. By the end of 2017, the commercial ink production at Ranger came to an end, and the company shifted full-time to production and sale of art materials.

Brands manufacturers and marketed by Ranger are used worldwide by card makers, home decor crafters, mixed media and jewelry artists, and many others. All of Ranger’s inks, embossing powders, paints, mediums, dimensional glitters, glues, and stamp cleaners are manufactured in the USA at a facility in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. Ranger continues to take pride in being able to ship products to customers quickly, and in meeting the demands of the rapidly changing landscape of artists and crafters by developing exciting new products with a comprehensive program of Educational Support.

Ranger’s mission is to provide a fun, creative and successful experience for artists and crafters by developing exciting new products, combined with inspiration and educational support.  High quality products and Signature Designer collections make up Ranger’s portfolio of brands. Ranger Designers provide personalized education at retail and consumer events throughout the years.
