Creativeworld Academy

Live workshops on current trends and new creative techniques

Frankfurt am Main, December 2021. The wait has come to an end: the latest materials and techniques from the hobby, craft and artists’ requisites sector will be on show at Creativeworld in Frankfurt am Main from 29 January to 1 February 2022. With the Creativeworld Academy, trade visitors are invited to test the new products live and on site and to exchange ideas with the industry.

The creative community meets at Creativeworld and at its heart, the Creativeworld Academy. There, companies such as Edding and Botz Keramik will present their latest products and materials. In addition, there will be exclusive workshops on Creativeworld Trends 22+ for the first time. “For creative people from all over the world, the haptic experience is indispensable. After a forced break, we are finally able to bring trade visitors together again in one area with our Creativeworld Academy, where they can do handicrafts, paint or work on designs together”, says Eva Olbrich, Director Creativeworld at Messe Frankfurt. “With our Academy, we offer a platform for creative exchange between manufacturers and retailers. There is great interest in exchanging information about the latest developments in the industry. I am particularly pleased that DIY expert Martina Lammel will once again be moderating the Academy and enriching the workshops with her extensive knowledge.”

Martina Lammel, book author and television presenter, has been with the Academy from the very beginning and has enlisted reinforcements for the 2022 event: “I would like to have a co-host on stage for the upcoming Creativeworld. Dorina Nowotny, whom I met there a few years ago and hold in very high esteem, is the perfect counterpart and she has agreed. It’s great that there are now two of us moderating the Academy, because this way we can make the programme more varied and support the large number of workshop participants even more intensively,” says Martina Lammel. Dorina Nowotny is a social media coach and very active in the creative community with her DIY blog diydori.de: “I am delighted to be moderating the Academy together with Martina Lammel and I am already very excited about the workshops and the participants,” says Nowotny.

Experience Creativeworld Trends and other highlights live in the workshop

The Academy programme offers trade visitors an exciting mix of product demonstrations and learning new creative techniques. This year, for the first time, Creativeworld Trends 2022+ will also be presented in workshops. Tai Elshorst-Delofski, freelance artist and designer, says: “The theme of resource conservation and recycling remains present and will continue to have a firm place in our work for a long time to come. That is why we are planning a charming upcycling object for our trend workshops. In the process, we will explore variations and varieties of design and try out different trends and techniques on a consistent substrate. So vintage, for example in the form of tableware, meets loose, cheerfully playful colours, bold contours and statement patterns or an experimental exploration of the nature theme.”

The three Creativeworld Trends: “colour statement”, “organic traces” and “lovely keepings” will play a central role in the workshops. The bora.herke.palmisano style agency was commissioned by Messe Frankfurt to develop the Creativeworld Trends and put them under the motto “Manual Movement”. For the 22+ season, the designers see that the DIY trend is unbroken and will continue to be driven by conscious consumption. Recycling and upcycling are fuelling the industry, whether in clothing, textiles, tableware or furniture. More on the trend worlds at: creativeworld.messefrankfurt.com/trends

In addition to the trend workshops, Edding will be presenting its new products at the Academy: “We are delighted to be able to participate in the Creativeworld Academy 2022 with creative workshops. For us, it is a welcome opportunity to demonstrate our new products to the participants and bring them to life,” says Christiane Gieschen, Manager Product and Corporate Communication Purpose & Brand. “At the workshops, trade visitors get the chance to try out everything extensively. They receive extensive first-hand information, practical tips and material, which they can pass on directly to their own customers. For 2022, we are planning workshops on our new acrylic range, consisting of various acrylic markers and matching acrylic paper.”

Mechthild Spener, Managing Director Botz GmbH, is already very excited about the Academy and the exchange with trade visitors: “The Creativeworld Academy stage is a great platform for retailers to try out materials themselves and get to know them. As a globally active glaze manufacturer, we show a lot of exciting and interesting facts about ceramics in our workshops, for example, how to glaze yourself.”

The safety and hygiene concept for a safe visit to the fair

“In our planning for the Academy, we naturally pay special attention to hygiene and safety regulations. The safety of all participants is our top priority,” explains Eva Olbrich. “Our safety and hygiene concept is developed together with the responsible authorities of the state of Hesse and with recommendations from the Robert Koch Institute and regularly adapted to current conditions.” The measures include 100 per cent fresh air supply in the exhibition halls, generous design of halls and entrances to maintain safety distances, intensive cleaning measures, a hygiene-adapted catering concept and the proven wearing of mouth and nose protection. Information on the hygiene and protection concept as well as on how to get to and enter the grounds is summarised at: creativeworld.messefrankfurt.com/hygiene

Live streams on the Creativeworld digital addition

Selected workshops will be available as live streams on the supplementary digital platform. They will then be available on the Conzoom Solutions knowledge platform. In this way, trade-fair networking will be extended and intensified on a digital level: That means trade visitors can be there live as well as network online. The Creativeworld digital addition offer is aimed in particular at buyers who cannot come to Frankfurt in 2022 due to Corona regulations. Digital exchange via 1-to-1 video calls or chats is already possible one week before and two weeks after the event. The already established online exhibitor search, Conzoom Solutions and Nextrade offer digital added value throughout the year – in the form of product inspiration, knowledge updates and ordering opportunities.

As usual, Creativeworld will be held together with the international consumer-goods fairs Paperworld and Christmasworld at the end of January 2022:

  • Christmasworld: 28 January to 1 February 2022
  • Paperworld and Creativeworld: 29 January to 1 February 2022
